Water Leak Detection Services Las Vegas & Reno Homeowners Call First
The leaks that cost the most money are the ones nobody can see. A pinhole in a line under the slab doesn’t flood anything but it runs quietly until the bill goes up or a spot on the floor turns warm. Finding it is the whole job. Once we know exactly where it is, the repair is usually straightforward. Legacy has been locating leaks in Nevada homes since 1999 advanced methods so we can open up one specific spot instead of guessing at three. Signs You Have a Hidden Leak
- Water Bill Spikes with no change in how you’re using water
- Sound of Running Water when everything in the house is off
- Warm Spot on the Floor which can mean a hot water line under the slab
- Cracked or Lifting Flooring in one area
- Low Water Pressure that came on gradually
- Musty Smell or Mildew in a room with no obvious source
- Stained or Soft Drywall at the base of a wall
- A Patch of Green Grass or damp soil in an otherwise dry yard
Check Your Meter Before You Call
You can confirm a leak yourself in about twenty minutes and it’s worth doing before you pay anyone to look.
- Turn off every fixture and appliance that uses water then go out to the meter and look for the small triangular or dial-shaped leak indicator on the face. If it’s moving with everything off then your water is going somewhere.
- Shut the valve at the house and if the indicator stops then the leak is inside or under the slab. If it keeps moving it’s between the meter and the house which is your service line.
What To Expect During Leak Detection
- Talk Through the Symptoms and check the meter reading ourselves
- Isolate the System to narrow it down to the true source
- Pressure Test the suspect line to confirm the leak is where we think it is
- Pinpoint It with acoustic listening equipment and thermal imaging
- Mark the Spot and show you what we found before anything gets opened up
- Quote the Repair with options including reroute versus direct repair for slab leaks
If the pipe turns out to be failing in more than one place, we’ll say so. Repeated pinhole leaks in the same system usually mean whole-house repiping is the cheaper answer than fixing them one at a time.
Slab Leaks Are Common Here
Nearly every home in the valley is built slab-on-grade with the water lines running underneath. With no way to lay eyes on the pipe so leak detection matters more in Las Vegas than in cities where the plumbing is accessible. Once we’ve located a slab leak, you generally have two options: open the slab and repair that section, or reroute the line overhead and abandon the damaged run. We’ll price both and tell you which one makes sense for your house.
